The notes began to play what I could be,
if I just give myself to my own self,
I can do what’s bad, that’s within me,
If I leave a life that put me on a shelf.
But I’m fighting to wait, I’m fighting for day
Even when the night just seems longer,
Even as the birds sing out their mourn play
That tells me I won’t ever grow stronger.
And as the night turns into darker night
And the world turns farther away from the sun,
I’ll tell you I will see the bloody sunlight
No matter how many days I have to run.
Persistence wins the prize,
I believe. In peace, UT 🙂
