One mother rose before all of mankind
Shining forth radiant beams of grace
And beaming a radiant wunderkind,
Held sway at dawn’s so new ascending face.
A soul left sole lay crestfall at her feet
And burying nose in niche of marble floor
Begged that she may her lovely promise keep
And teach the weatherworn hawk soul to soar.
But the ignorant one rested her face below,
Refused to see the tender light of love
That ceased not in the face of tears to glow
And looked on in tender mercy above.
Hush little one, the ever-mother said
Come to my heart, now rest your weary head.
